PGAN Masterclass with Professor Li Daokui (In person)

The Pakistan Global Alumni Network invites members to a Masterclass with Professor Li Daokui, one of China's most influential economists and a rare figure who has both shaped and interpreted the country's growth model from inside the policy machinery.

Across four decades, China moved from a closed command economy to the world's second largest. That transition was not the product of a single blueprint. It came from sequencing, experimentation, tolerated contradictions and hard trade offs between growth, stability and equity. Professor Li will trace how economic theory was translated into policy across successive phases of reform, where the theory held, where it broke, and what was learned in the process.

The session will also turn to the questions that matter most for this audience: what the Chinese experience does and does not transfer to economies contending with fiscal stress, currency pressure, weak industrial capacity and constrained external financing. For Pakistan, with CPEC as a live reference point and a persistent search for a durable growth model, the discussion is directly relevant.

A moderated question and answer segment will follow the lecture.
